The Rise of Authoritarianism: What's Happening to Our Rights?

Thursday, November 6th 2025
5:30-7:00pm
Newburyport Superior Court - High Street

The Greater Newburyport Bar Association invites you to participate in this forum with legal experts on the state of our democracy, and the rise of authoritarianism.

Believing that knowledge can be a powerful tool, we invite the public to join us for a discussion about fundamental constitutional rights and norms.

I. Is our democracy at risk, and if so what do we do?
II. What does the Rule of Law mean and why should we care?
III. Who is entitled to Due Process of Law and how does one get it?
IV. What does the First Amendment to our constitution say and mean?
